About Sharon Begovich
Who is Sharon? For the purposes of this website, I am a loan originator and licensed real estate broker with nearly 16 years of lending experience and over 27 years of experience in real estate; but I am also a mother, wife and sister. I have a BA in Philosophy from UCLA and, after a 25 year hiatus from higher education, earned my MA in Conscious Evolution in 2006. Conscious Evolution is the study of the evolution of consciousness in humans and examines this evolution through the disciplines of science, art, religion, psychology, philosophy and physics. I also have taken several seminars on the study and application of Spiral Dynamics and completed a course with Yasuhiko Kimura entitled Authentic Thinking for Creative Evolution.
My primary interests are interior and landscape design, gardening, and consciousness studies. I am also fascinated by human beings and how we grow and change, and what supports that growth and change. In addition to studying philosophy, I also studied interior and landscape design through UCLA extension. I have designed gardens anywhere from 2 acres in size to small plots, and my favorite gardening magazine is BBC Gardener's World. My absolute favorite nursery is www.heronswood.com where you can find fabulous exotic plants grown from seeds collected from all over the world. I recently openedd a container gardening business...please visit my website at www.poshplanter.com for a description of the services I offer.

In June of 2004, my husband, Phil, and I became the permanent legal guardians of Nancy, a young girl who is now 21. Headed for foster care, we decided to take her under our wing and keep her out of the system. This experience has been one of the most challenging and rewarding of our lives, and though the first year and a half together was a period of transition and adjustment, we all prevailed. Nancy is thriving, driving, and attending college. This is a photo of Phil (my husband), on the far right; Nancy, seated next to Phil; my son - Jared - on the far left, and me, celebrating our first Thanksgiving together as a family...

And, of course, we cannot forget the twins, Audrey...
and her brother, Sturgis. They moonlight as our corporate shredders!

My son, Jared, is a DJ and manager at The Matrix Fillmore in San Francisco. He attended the Culver Military Academy during his high school years, did a brief stint at the University of Colorado, roamed around Europe for several months and then settled in San Francisco after living again briefly in Marin. Jared writes and performs techno music and has performed at several night clubs in San Francisco and Denver.
I have many interests which have lead me in numerous directions. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, having visited the continent some 14 times in my life. I am especially fond of Italy, Greece and Croatia, with my favorite place so far being the island of Santorini in Greece.
I have had many jobs - several real estate related, including working as a research analyst for a development firm in Malibu after graduating from UCLA, where I also studied Interior Design in addition to Philosophy. In the 1980s I imported furniture and decorative art from Spain and Italy, including a beautiful collection of Art Nouveau from Barcelona. My studies and travels inspired me to design interiors and gardens, mostly for self, family and friends; and in 1994 I became a mortgage broker. At the turn of the century, I became interested in consciousness studies, and it was shortly thereafter that I enrolled in the MA program in Conscious Evolution at The Graduate Institute. My studies there coincided with Nancy's moving in with us, and my thesis work involved working with teenage girls in creating individual habitats that helped them grow and develop in alignment with their passions, interests and talents.
I became a mortgage broker because I wanted to offer an alternative to my competitors who often see this business as a numbers game. I was interested in it from the human and relationship perspective and my forays into consciousness studies have only increased my love and appreciation for my clients, their hopes and dreams. I am honored that many of my clients have also become friends and it is thrilling to watch as their families grow, careers change and horizons expand.
I love what I do, and I know it shows!
